Confirm what is actually being replaced
The quote should identify the cylinder and state what happens to relevant valves, trays, discharge arrangements, pipe connections and supports. Existing components should not automatically be assumed to be reusable or automatically replaced without assessment.
Separate plumbing, electrical and building work
A geyser replacement normally involves electrical disconnection and reconnection as well as plumbing work. The electrical connection must be handled by a registered electrical person and the required electrical Certificate of Compliance (CoC) must be supplied. Ceiling access, making good and other building work should be stated separately where they fall outside the plumbing scope.
Ask how completion will be checked
The completed installation should be checked for leaks and normal operation before close-out. The plumbing and pressure-control side should comply with the applicable requirements of SANS 10254, and the handover documentation should identify the electrical CoC and any other compliance records supplied for the work.

Geyser Installations
A geyser replacement should define exactly what is being replaced, what remains existing, how the installation will be tested and what access or making-good work is included.
Geyser Repairs
Geyser faults can involve the cylinder, safety valves, pipework or electrical components. The useful starting point is the symptom, followed by a clear diagnosis before parts are replaced.
No Hot Water
No hot water can result from electrical supply, controls, valves, a failed element or thermostat, or a broader hot-water system fault.
Why Is My Geyser Leaking?
Water around a geyser does not automatically mean the cylinder has burst. The source, timing and discharge point matter.
