Identify the symptom first
No hot water, water that is too hot, continuous discharge, low pressure and visible leaking point to different fault paths. A clear description of the symptom is more useful than assuming which component has failed.
Plumbing versus electrical work
A geyser installation combines pressurised water and electrical heating. Water leaks, valves and pipework are plumbing issues. Work on the geyser's electrical side, including elements, thermostats and wiring, must be carried out by a person appropriately registered to perform that electrical work. Where the fixed electrical installation is added to or altered, the required electrical Certificate of Compliance (CoC) must be addressed as part of close-out.
Replacement decisions
When a cylinder or associated components fail, the quote should identify what is being replaced, what remains existing, whether access and reinstatement are included, and whether any non-compliant or deteriorated surrounding components need separate attention.
