Access is part of the scope
Before approving a concealed pipe repair, establish how the plumber is expected to reach the defect. Access may involve ceilings, cupboards, walls, tiles or external paving, and the least disruptive route is not always the shortest pipe route.
Separate repair from making good
The plumbing contractor may repair the pipe but not automatically replace tiles, repaint ceilings or rebuild cabinetry. The quotation should identify which trade is responsible for opening and reinstatement so the customer is not left with an incomplete finish.
Keep evidence before closing
Photographs of the exposed defect, repaired section and concealed route can be useful before finishes are reinstated. Where appropriate, confirm the repair has been tested before the access is closed.
