Plumbing FAQs

Water Pressure & Supply FAQs

Common questions about low pressure, fluctuating flow, noisy pipes, local restrictions and supply-side plumbing faults.

Why is water pressure low at only one tap?

A problem affecting one fixture is often local to that tap, aerator, valve, connector or branch rather than the incoming supply to the whole property.

Why is hot-water pressure lower than cold-water pressure?

If the difference is system-wide, investigate restrictions or components on the hot-water side. If it affects one outlet, the fault may be local to that fitting.

Can high pressure damage plumbing fittings?

Excessive or unstable pressure can contribute to noise, valve problems and stress on connectors or fittings. Pressure should be measured before a pressure-related repair is specified.

Does low pressure automatically mean I need a booster pump?

No. Restrictions, partly closed valves, filters, regulators, leaks or supply conditions should be checked before adding a pump.
