Check whether the quote covers investigation, repair, replacement, access, testing, cleanup and reinstatement. Two prices cannot be compared properly if one includes making good and the other stops when the pipe is fixed.
Materials and assumptions
The quote should identify major components or at least the standard being allowed for. Where the final material quantity depends on opening or investigation, that uncertainty should be stated rather than hidden.
Completion and testing
Ask how the repair will be tested and what evidence or handover will be provided. For larger commercial work, photographs and a short completion report can be more useful than a vague statement that the job is finished.
